EDGAR ALLAN POE: Tonight’s storyteller is Anne Rice. 

ANNE RICE: Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society—

MARY SHELLEY: You got this, Anne! 

RICE: —I call this story [SPARKLE] The Tale of my OTP, the Sad Vampire and the Devil. 

DEAN KOONTZ: Isn’t the Devil a bad guy? 

RICE: No! He’s misunderstood! He has one blue and one red eye to symbolise his conflicted nature. 

HP LOVECRAFT: Oh, so if you want to show that a character is bad or corrupt or from hell, you just give them a disability? (IMPRESSED) I’m gonna use that. 

RICE: And the Sad Vampire isn’t like other vampires. Other vampires are superficial and only care about shopping. But the Sad Vampire reads books, and drinks tea. 

KOONTZ: Tea? Not blood? 

RICE: Oh no, blood too. 

[AMBIENCE FADES OUT AND BACK IN] 

RICE: (CONTINUING STORY)... (SPOOKY DEVIL VOICE) “What’s wrong with you, Sad Vampire?” said the Devil. “One minute you’re all over me, and the next, you hate me!” And the Sad Vampire, facing away from the Devil so that none might see his manly tears, replied: “No, The Devil! I never liked you!” 

CLIVE BARKER: (INTERRUPTING) I have an important question. 

RICE: Yes, Clive, they’re going to. 

BARKER: Score. 

RICE: Oh! The Devil also has one demon wing and one angel wing.  [FADES]
